Intersectional identities in action within the workplace
Exploring how culture, disability, and identity collide—and how workplaces can respond with care.
In this intimate fireside conversation, Dr. Angela Young and Dr. Akilah Cadet will explore the lived complexity of intersectional identities in the workplace. Through personal stories, real-world examples, and candid dialogue, they’ll invite attendees to move beyond checkbox inclusion and consider what it truly means to support multifaceted identities.
Participants will be challenged to reflect on how organizational cultures, policies, and everyday interactions can unintentionally “other” individuals, even within the same identity groups. From disability and chronic illness to cultural expression, religious identity to sexual orientation, this session underscores that identities never exist in isolation.
Attendees will leave with a clearer lens for recognizing unseen dynamics, acctionale strategies for approaching difference with curiosity over judgment, and a reminder that grace, not perfection, is key in navigating inclusive workplaces for team members with disabilities.
